Scope

This document specifies procedures for the determination of carbon dioxide sequestered in concrete and concrete constituents by acid decomposition and back titration method.

NOTE 1 The method specified in this document is an analytical method in which the specimen is decomposed with hydrochloric acid, the carbon dioxide formed by this process is absorbed and dissolved in a sodium hydroxide solution (containing barium chloride) and the carbon dioxide content is determined by titrimetric analysis.

NOTE 2 The general principles for the determination of carbon dioxide sequestrated in carbonated concrete and concrete constituents are specified in ISO 21282-1.
