Scope

This PAS provides guidance on how existing data and information management standards that support the digitalization of the built environment can be unified to establish a holistic framework. This PAS provides an index to the relevant standards.

NOTE 1 These standards include British Standards in the BS series or international and European standards adopted as British Standards, either in the BS EN, BS EN ISO or BS ISO series. It also includes standards from other recognized industry bodies.

This PAS covers:

  • key concepts from existing data and information management standards;
  • connections between the key concepts; and
  • opportunities for further standardization.It does not cover how to meet the requirements or recommendations of standards referenced within this PAS.

This PAS is of use to those who interact with the built environment, including:

  • individuals in organizations who are responsible for or influence data and/or information management activities across any stage of the asset life cycle;

NOTE 2 This can include the following activities in relation to data and information: strategy, specification, procurement, delivery planning, managing production, quality and assurance. These activities can be internal to support the operation of an organization or external in the form of projects and other activities.

NOTE 3 This includes peripheral organizations that might not be typically regarded as part of the built environment sector.
