This British standard specifies requirements and test methods for protective helmets used in and on water environments, enabling the selection of an appropriate helmet based on risk analysis to reduce the risk of head injury.
It does not cover canoeing and white-water sports which are covered by BS EN 1385.
It is intended for use by manufacturers, military, emergency services and rescue organizations, sailing sports organizations and maritime/coastal agencies.
It could be of interest to accident investigation authorities, insurers and regulatory authorities.
