Scope

The Scope clause is a mandatory element of the text. For rules on the drafting of the Scope, refer to the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2:2018, Clause 14.

The Scope (Purpose) of the IEC 61400-16 standard establishes a common structure to be used by all OEMs for the sharing of wind turbine power curves and associated information (see Annex A)using a machine-readable format and common terminology. Going forward this common structure is referred to as the Power Curve Schema. A Schema defines how to structure and populate a specific JSON document (see Annex B).

The information communicated within the Power Curve Schema contains:

–        Document metadata

–        Turbine model characteristics

–        Design basis information

–        Operating mode information, where each mode contains

• Power (as a function of wind speed and optionally other parameters)

• Thrust (as a function of wind speed and optionally other parameters)

• Optional acoustic emissions (as a function of wind speed and other parameters)

–        Optional power de-rating details

The Power Curve Schema is based on the JavaScript Object Notation ("JSON") format ISO/IEC 21778:2017 and shall follow the specifications in this document.

Security and distribution of data rests with the authors of the data and is outside the scope of the standard.

Measured power curves can be provided/requested following the schema but only limited information is to be tracked.
