Scope

This document specifies the physical layer of a network segment based on CAN classic as specified in ISO 11898-2 (high-speed physical medium attachment sublayer) and in ISO 11898-1 (physical coding sublayer). The bit rate is 250 kbit/s. This document covers two physical medium-dependent sublayer solutions: a) un-shielded, twisted quad-cable and b) un-shielded, twisted-pair cable.

NOTE Where not differently specified, requirements are valid for both twisted quad physical layer (TQPL) and twisted pair physical layer (TPPL).
