Scope

This document specifies the requirements for Type 2 chemical indicators for Bowie and Dick-type air removal tests used to evaluate the effectiveness of air removal during the pre-vacuum phase of pre-vacuum steam sterilization cycles.

Additionally, this document includes test methods and equipment used to meet these performance requirements.

NOTE The Bowie and Dick-type test is used for routine testing of steam sterilizers and validation of steam sterilization processes.
