Scope

This document defines the general minimum specifications of single-port and multi-port connection interfaces, linking the in-vehicle Ethernet devices and harness connectors built into a road vehicle. The test method and requirements are defined in this document. Definition of the interface is described as informative, which is limited to the representation of the single-port connection.

This document defines terms and definitions, general performance requirements of a multi-port connection and the interface definition of a single-port, waterproof and unsealed connections used with on-board electrical wiring harnesses of road vehicles. The interface definition for the single-port is the basic for multi-port applications.

This document also applies to connectors designed to be disconnected after mounting in the vehicle for repair and maintenance purposes.

This document is not applicable to internal connections of electronic devices.
