Scope
This British Standard gives recommendations for the commissioning and maintenance of fire safety systems in built assets, and their ongoing management.
This British Standard gives recommendations for:
a) planning and executing the commissioning of active and passive fire safety systems, including integrated systems testing and verification of whole‑building performance;
b) arrangements for the planned inspection, testing and maintenance of those systems throughout the building’s life;
c) the interactions of design, specification, commissioning, verification, inspection and maintenance of fire safety systems; and
d) managing information and change so that the installed fire safety measures remain effective and coordinated with a clear audit trail.
It provides recommendations for a process through which fire safety systems that interact with each other can be jointly commissioned, maintained and these processes recorded and documented for the life cycle of a building.
This British Standard is intended to be used by clients, designers, fire engineers, installers, commissioning agents, verifiers, facilities managers, maintainers, accountable persons, duty holders, building control bodies, and fire and rescue services.
