Scope

This part of IEC 60598 specifies requirements for ground recessed luminaires incorporating electric light sources for operation from supply voltages up to 1 000 V, for indoor or outdoor use,.

Note 1: Examples of ground recessed luminaire are those intended to be installed in gardens, yards, carriageways, parking lots, cycleways, footways, pedestrian areas, swimming pools areas outside zones for SELV, nurseries and similar applications.

This document does not apply to ground recessed luminaires for airfields.

Note: Ground recessed luminaires for airfields are specified in IEC TS 61827.

This document is not applicable to recessed luminaires as covered by IEC 60598-2-2.

Note 2: For luminaires to be installed in a road for vehicles in addition to the requirements of this document, additional and more stringent constructional requirements can be required by regional or other regulations.
