Scope

This document aims to ensure the quality of recycled pulp derived from used absorbing products, including those containing human urine and/or feces, for use in urine absorbing products through various recycling processes such as sterilization.

This document is a standard regarding recycled pulp, and the disposable absorbing products using pulp of this standard shall meet strict requirements for product safety by using various parts of ISO 10993- [all parts]:2018 as medical devices.

The sterilization process is not discussed in this document, but the recycling process shall meet the requirements for sterilization in accordance with ISO 11138-3:2017

Note: The objects to be absorbed are urine and feces, and menstrual blood is not included. Therefore, menstrual products are not covered.
