This standard is applicable to enclosed, current-limiting fuse-links intended for protecting DC circuits with time constants equal to and below 3 ms and with rated [AS1]voltages higher than 1 500 V DC, up tothe limits specified below. The object of this standard is to establish the characteristics of fuse-links only. For this purpose, this standard refers to– characteristics of fuse-links– type test for verification of the characteristics of fuse-links– marking of fuse-linksFuse-Iinks covered by this standard are used– for full-range protection of semiconductor devices (characteristics gR, gS) up to 2,5 kV DC– for backup protection of semiconductor devices (characteristic aR) up to 12 kV DC– for full-range protection of PV strings and PV arrays (characteristic gPV) up to 2,5 kV DC– for full-range protection of batteries and battery systems (characteristic gBat) up to 2,5 kV DC– for backup protection of batteries and battery systems (characteristic aBat) up to 2,5 kV DCNOTE The characteristics of fuse-links defined here are based on those of low-voltage fuse links according to IEC 60269-4, IEC 60269-6 and IEC 60269-7, or the future IEC 60269-200 series. This document is not applicable to fuse-bases or fuse-holders. Fuse-links covered by this document are intended to be mounted directly in/on devices or accessories using various fixing means, e.g. on busbars.NOTE There has been little standardization of mounting means for the fuse-links covered by this document. Should mounting means become more standardized in the future, requirements for fuse-bases and/or fuse-holders will be considered.Fuse-links according to this document are intended to be used by authorized persons.
