Although the methods defined in this document may be implemented using any 16-byte block cipher that supports a 16-byte key, such as those defined in ISO/IEC 18033-3, ISO 9564 restricts the choice of block cipher for PIN management to one of those identified in ISO 9564-2 such as AES.
The processes defined in this document (in order of presentation) are:
— Natural PIN generation;
— PIN change;
— Transaction PIN verification;
Refer to ISO 9564-1 for requirements related to the use of assigned derived PINs.
