Scope

This document specifies test methods of surface electromyography (sEMG) sensors for wearable applications that decipher movement intentions from sEMG signals of forearm and hand and use them as control signals in situations such as virtual reality, game/UAV/robot control, and home automation. This standard consists of test conditions, test equipment, test procedures, and test reports. It specifies methods for evaluating the quality of sEMG signals obtained from contracting muscles and the suitability of selected muscles for wearable applications. Note that medical applications of sEMG sensors are beyond the scope of this document.
