Scope

This international standard specifies initial outlines of rolling stock gauges and structure clearance gauges for common and private tracks (track width 1 520, 1 524 and 1 435 mm) as well as calculation methods to determine permissible outlines for the gauges of railway rolling stock.

This international standard is applicable for the design, manufacture, upgrade, repair, and use of railway rolling stock vehicles of all kinds intended for international services on rail tracks 1 520, 1 524 and 1 435 mm wide.

The aerodynamic effect and the distance between the centres of tracks are not included in the scope of the standard.
