BS EN IEC 61217 Radiotherapy equipment - Coordinates, movements and scales

Scope

This International Standard applies to equipment and data related to the process of RADIOTHERAPY, including ELECTRON ACCELERATORS, LIGHT-ION BEAM MEDICAL ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT, GAMMA BEAM THERAPY EQUIPMENT, X-RAY RADIOTHERAPY EQUIPMENT, REMOTE AFTERLOADING BRACHYTHERAPY EQUIPMENT, RADIOTHERAPY SIMULATORS, EQUIPMENT for IMAGEGUIDED RADIOTHERAPY, and PATIENT image data used with RADIOTHERAPY TREATMENT PLANNING SYSTEMS.

The object of this standard is to define a consistent set of coordinate systems for use throughout the process of RADIOTHERAPY, to define the marking of scales (where provided), to define the movements of ME EQUIPMENT used in this process, and to facilitate computer control when used.
