Scope

This part of IEC 61643 specifies test circuits, test methods and test criteria for the electrical parameters of continuous characteristic (non-switching) voltage limiters using silicon PN-junction technology. These components may be used for the overvoltage protection of information & communication technology (ICT) systems and power distribution systems with nominal system voltages up to AC 1 000 V (RMS) and DC 1 500 V.
