Overview: Reporting to the Electrotechnical Standardization Strategic Advisory Council of BSI, L/1 has the responsibility to: provide technical advice to ESSAC and BSI management on behalf of the electrotechnical industries by providing input to relevant technical and policy documents circulated by IEC SMB and CLC BT; provide advice and supporting information to ESSAC on the strategic implications of technical issues, and on the technical implications of ESSAC’s strategic proposals; nominate the volunteer member who acts as the IEC SMB UK member; provide technical advice on relevant policy developments in other International standards organizations (including ISO, ITU, IEEE, ETSI); act as a co-ordination committee for all electrotechnical committee activity; provide input on standards development issues raised by electrotechnical BSI committees; resolve disputes on technical matters between electrotechnical BSI committees where there are conflicts of scope or projects which involve two or more technical committees; provide advice where requested on GB nominations to advisory committees, strategic groups (SGs) and adhoc groups (AHGs) established by and reporting directly to IEC SMB; provide advice where requested on GB nominations to system committees (SyC) established by and reporting directly to IEC SMB where a BSI mirror committee does not exist, which includes any WGs established under the SyC; provide advice where requested on GB nominations to advisory committees (for example, ACOS Advisory committee on safety) established by and reporting directly to IEC SMB where a BSI mirror committee does not exist, which includes any WGs established under the committee; provide advice where requested on GB nominations to working groups (WGs) and joint CEN-CLC technical committees (TCs) established by and reporting directly to CLC/BT, where a BSI mirror committee does not exist; be constituted by members representing a comprehensive range of stakeholders concerned with standardizati
