ISO/NP 25300 Fertilizers, Soil conditioners and Beneficial Substances — Simultaneous Determination of free amino acid content

Scope

This document specifies the methods for determining the content of free amino acids in fertilizers, including the use of automatic amino acid analyzers, pre-column derivatization followed by highperformance liquid chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS). These methods are applicable to the following amino acids: Asparagine Tryptophan, Glutamine, Theanine, Aspartic acid, Threonine, Serine, Glutamic acid, Proline, Glycine, Alanine, Valine, Methionine, Isoleucine, Leucine, Tyrosine, Phenylalanine, Histidine, Lysine, Arginine, and Cysteine.

Purpose

- Amino acids are widely used in agricultural production due to their importance as a biologically active ingredient. They can serve as raw materials for protein synthesis, as well as to promote plant growth. Additionally, they can adsorb and decompose organic pollutants in the soil and water, reducing the harm caused on environment.

- The global amino acid industry has produced over 10 million tones annually in recent years and is expected to continue growing to meet the needs of various crops in agriculture.

- The method unifies existing methods and is aimed to provide technical support for agricultural production.

- A broader range of amino acids is obtained in this document than those covered in general ones

- It is expected that manufacturers and research institutes will follow this document to ensure consistent and reliable results.

- This document ensures product quality, reduces production costs, and is significant for the standardization and sustainable development of amino acid-containing fertilizers
