ISO/TC 138/SC 5 - ISO/NP 17778 Plastics piping systems — Fittings, valves and ancillaries — Determination of gaseous flow rate/pressure drop relationships

Scope

This document specifies a method for determining the flow rate/pressure drop relationship of components for plastics piping systems when tested using air at 25 mbar.

This data is used to calculate the flow rate of gases for a specified pressure drop. This document is applicable to mechanical fittings, valves, tapping tees, saddle fittings and other components, which are used in plastics piping systems for the supply of gases.

Purpose

Technical comments were received on ISO 17778:2015 concerning the test configuration, the measuring equipment and the expression of the results. The revision is to take account of the formulated comments, comprising update of measuring equipment, detailing of test configurations for the different products involved, expression of flow rates in standard reference conditions and detailing of conditions for acceptance of the data, such that the industry and end-users dispose of an unambiguous test method for measurement of the pressure drop in plastics piping systems.
